3rd Conference - 1995

The 3rd International Santal Conference was held at Galib Institute Hall, New Delhi on 14th & 15th October 1995. The conferece was blessed by Mr. Shibu Soren, MP as a Chief Guest in the inaugural function while Sitaram Keshri, Welfare Minister, Govt. of India was Guest of Honour in the validictory session. 355 Delegates participated among prominent guest speakers Mr. N. N. Hembrom, Mr. Sonelal Hembrom, Deputy Commissioner (excise) Govt. of Bihar, Mr. Prithibi Majhi, Deputy Speaker, Assam Assembly, Mr. S.C. Soren Advocate, Supreme Court of India, Mr. K. C. Murmu, Advocate Jamshedpur and many others on this account Dr. L. R. Murmu of AIIMS New Delhi was the organising Chairman of the conference. Again the subject for discussion was confined to Santali Language and Literature only. It is note - worthy that the council member/ delegate placed and pressed demand before Sitaram Keshri for inclusion of Santali Language in the 8th Schedule in the constitution of India who assured for favourable consideration of the demand  noted above and conferred honoured Mr. Kushal Baskey for his outstanding works in the field of Santali Language & Literature where as the kin of N. K. Verma for highlighting the glimpses of the Santals in his research finding book "Epoch of the Indus valley civilisation".
